New tournament, new interview

Brian Brimingham from the WoW-Classic team talked to Venruki about PVP Season 3 of WoW: Burning Crusade Classic. Source: Blizzard From 18 to 21 February 2022, a ** arena tournament for the shard world new edition was recently took place again, and this time, Venruki had the opportunity to get rid of some questions. But now Brian Birmingham was his contact person from the Classic team. Below we have summarized the most important findings from the conversation (Via Twitch).

  • Brian Birmingham has been part of the Classic team since the beginning. Internally and externally, Blizzard developers were searched, who want to accept the project. Brian worked at the time at Hearthstone and for him it was a wonderful way to return to WOW.
  • Brian remembers the discussions and research around the Tornadoes in the Nagrand Arena. Although these were already removed in 2007 after quite a short time, every player remembers from that time that this tornadoes existed. That's why developers wanted to return them for the entire first season - simply because they are such an important part of the memories of TBC.

New season, new meta

  • In the original TBC, every season has its own meta, which was controlled by the previously implemented balancing adjustments. However, there are no class changes in TBC Classic. Nevertheless, the developers also want to give the certain something in the new edition of each PVP season. The recent restrictions for items like the gem of the thought jump worries in season 3 for another PVP experience than in season 2 (and improve the balance). That's why the just mentioned Tornados were removed with season 2.
  • With Season 3, the developers wanted to significantly lower the waiting times for Arena garties because waiting times on average were longer than the games in themselves. For this they extended the reach, with which teams are brought together on matchmaking.
  • In the new season, there is much more honor, and PVP equipment for beginners are much more accessible. In addition, the developers want to give the PVP fans more options to earn honor and items.

  • Blizzard is not surprised that TBC-Classic players are currently looking for the return of personal rating. Finally, this was introduced at that time due to the player feedback. Whether there could already be an appropriate adaptation in TBC Classic, it is currently being discussed.

  • According to Brian, there will be another Arena tournament for TBC Classic as soon as the War Bear of the Amani is accessible. Mount comes into play with the RAID instance Zul'Aman in the coming phase.

We are pretty sure that there will be another interview with Venruki and the WoW-Classic team.
