[Interview] Ares introduces a suit action with differentiated muscle world

Aka Games held a joint interview with 'Ares: Rise of Guardians' (Ares), which is being prepared with Second Dive at G-Star 2022 today (17th).

Ares is the next generation MMORPG based on the near future worldview. Suites with various abilities appear against the background of the typical fantasy worldview, and can be replaced in real time to play brilliant battles.

Aka Games provided Ares' demonstrations to visitors in the booth, while also providing a place to solve the curiosity as the next-generation RPG to continue Odin through a joint interview with Second Dive Ban Seung-chul.

Ares is a differentiated world-based worldview-based RPG, and plans to introduce a suit-based strategic battle, cooperation and competitive contents. In addition to non-targeted suit change action, there are also management-based systems with various actions.

= Second Dive is a company founded by a key member of the Dark Avengers 1 and 2. The game was also the second company, so it was named Second Diver. It is a company that was established to create a better quality game than the existing work based on the action that was good in the past. It was founded in 2019 and developed for about three years.

Q. Why did you build the game name as Ares: Rise of Guardians?

There are many reasons for deciding on the title, but there are many cases where stories or major keywords are inserted. Ares, however, did not have a special meaning in the story and found a word that can make use of the symbolism of the action.

Q. How is Ares' main story configured?

= The specific story will be shown in a cut scene with a narrative at the time of launch. In short, the guardians who protect the solar system are the Space Opera who adventures to defend the universe from the evil.

Q. What is the reason why we made a worldview in a different background from the game released in the Korean market?

Ares is a meaningful game for our company. MMORPG has already been located in large IP and medieval fantasy games. In that sense, I made the same choice to pursue a distinction without falling too deep in the SF side. We have a lot of fantasy genre know-how, but since there is no know-how and experience of SF elements, we have a lot of concerns about how to mix the ratio.

Q. I'm curious about Ares' special content.

As mentioned earlier, there is a differentiation in the visual direction of the near future background, and the other is based on the existing MMORPG targeting, and Ares is likely to be differentiated because there is a part that management of non-targeted-based battles and suits.

Q. What role does the suit play in the game specifically?

The combat style is set depending on the suit and the various devices that assist the suit changes the sense of combat. You can build your own combat style. In Marvel's movie, the Avengers: Infinity War shows that Iron Man responds by changing NATO suits according to the situation.

Q. What are the goals that Ares will achieve in the market and what kind of game do you want to be?

= There was something that I wanted to escape the medieval fantasy concept from the position of developing. The other was an action RPG genre, which was easy to catch the eye with intense action in the beginning, but it was not easy to continue this interest and action from a long-term perspective. This time, I want to reinforce it in terms of service and remain a game that is loved by users for a long time.

Q. What is the competitiveness of Ares in the global market?

= You can talk about the experience of the previous work. Dark Avenger has also made meaningful results in global episodes from 1 to 3. The quality and system that can be shown on mobile devices have been fully appealed to global users, and through service experience and accumulated know-how, it will be able to express the advantages of Ares and supplement the disadvantages. Personally, I think this part is enough competitiveness.

Q. Why are you working with Aka Games?

= I think that Aka Games has served games of various genres well as a personal judgment. And Aka Games thought that Aka Games was a great partner because we were seeing stable service skills in the genre we are trying to service and working together.

Q. How much is Ares now developed?

It has been developed about 90% to 90%, and is preparing to launch in the first half of 2023.

Q. I felt that it was difficult to operate in detail when the screen was frequent in the battle process. In the development process, I wonder which part of manual and automatic battle was designed with more weight.

= Basically, the platform and MMORPG characteristics did not exclude automatic battles. During the repetitive content and grinding farming, I think of using automatic battles. However, there are bosses and PVP content, and if you manually operate, there is a favorable part. Therefore, there are elements such as evasion and counter in the general action game.

The inconvenience of manipulation in the demonstration version seems to be related to the default camera mode. The camera is too close and the up and down fluctuations are large, which can be seen larger on the screen than the effect we thought. Until the thumb pan, the overall control of the action camera view in this basic default mode will be made, so I think it will be able to play smoothly in the future.

Q. I actually played the graphic quality, so I'm a little worried about the specifications. How much is Ares' specific specifications?

= As we developed based on global services, we have a specification based on mobile devices and can play stably on the Galaxy S9 and iPhone 10. The recommended specifications are quite low, and the PC version will be lowed.

Q. Can Ares follow a typical MMORPG BM?

= First, there is no specific discussion, but there is a high situation to take the basic BM of MMORPG. However, since gamers are aware of the great sense of rejection of the existing BM among gamers, they are discussing to provide better BM internally.

Q. I wonder if I plan to support the game pad after launch.

= It has been about three years since I developed, but in the beginning, there was only a mobile version. As a result, a PC has been added while developing, and the PC version is still insufficient. Therefore, it is still improving, and at the time of launch, it will be able to apply in any form.

Q. When I did a demonstration version, I felt more difficult than I thought. Is it going to stick to this difficulty in the full version?

= Intentionally, the difficulty is not set high. There are many unusual settings as a near future worldview, and it is not a phase of the description of suit changes and battles, but it seems to have been misunderstood as I skipped the front part of the demonstration. I don't want to make it difficult.

Q. Please explain more about the content composition.

History

= Content configuration follows the basic configuration of MMORPG. Ares is a strong action game, so it is mainly composed of small-scale cooperative contents, and competitive content is composed of small and large-scale. However, it is not easy to mention the content name in detail. We are planning to expose content at stages until the launch, so I would like to mention the specific part then.

Q. You can fight by replacing three suits. If so, should you prepare at least three presets, including the equipment of the main suit?

= Because you fight while changing three suits, you should physically prepare and grow three settings. However, you can see while launching and releasing the content, but you can feel the defense while playing with the existing character-based fun and playing. Therefore, there will be no discomfort in the three equipment settings.

Q. How much did you mix the ratio of SF and fantasy elements?

In terms of the design of the suit, 100%of the mechanical elements are 30%and traditional fantasy elements are filled around 30%. The other parts were filled with relative, but I wanted to avoid the full mechanic design.

Q. How about Ares, which is not dark and maintains a certain tone.

= There will be differences in interpretation of each person. Compared to other entertainment media, the movie Star Wars is a reference. It's not too dark, and the adventure is strong. There is also a reversal in the story, so you can enjoy it casually.

Q. I am curious about the development cost and success of the success.

= Survival is important for the company's representative, so I hope it will be over the standard, and I hope it will be possible to give incentives to employees who have suffered personally. Development costs are difficult to identify specific numbers, but they are not particularly more especially compared to similar MMORPGs.

Q. I was impressed with the customization of delicately decorating the character, but it was a pity that some suits covered my face. In the official release version, I wonder if we are planning a BM for the removal of helmet and decorating.

= The helmet removal will be provided. There are also customization and dyeing, and costumes are divided into parts.
